Welcome to the online home of BLAGY, Bradford's youth group for LGBTQ youth. We meet once a week on Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm to have fun and meet new people.

Meetings are varied, fun and informal with trained youth workers on hand who can offer support, a listening ear, give you advice or point you in the right direction.

Camp it up

Blagy have just returned from a weekend of camping, joined by Liberate, Fruitbowl and SLGBT for the weekend of varied activities.

MESMAC Camp Camping 2009

We all enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with the other groups and to have a good time as well as all the stuff the youth workers put on for us. Along with walking and team building games we created some banners for the upcoming Leeds Pride parade.
You can see all the photos over in the photo galleries or read on to see what the other members said about the weekend.

Picnic Allsorts a success!

Yesterday was the first day-time event that I organised for Bradford LGBTQ. Picnic Allsorts was designed to get people of different age ranges and from different local areas to come and socialise with each other - I think that worked. In the mix of members of Bradford LGBTQ we had people from Leeds University LGBT and also from BLAGY. Everyone chatted among themselves and had general fun with a few games and the food and drink provided.

Open Eyes

I'm primarily a Psychology student at the University of Bradford, not really a writer although it is involved in a lot that I do. Anyway, as part of my course I have to do a module on Developmental Psychology which is basically how we grow up from being children to adults and goes right the way through to death (yes, it's just as cheery as it sounds). This semester we ended up covering the period of adolescence which starts when puberty starts but the ending is now being disputed, however, within this module and this section of the module, we had to examine identity formation which is a major part of this section of life and behold, sexual identities were included in this.
